We are having a...

BOY!!

Tim and I are happy to announce that we are having a little boy! We do have a name picked out but we are saving it to tell my parents in person today. After they find out, I will share it with everyone but to tide you over, you are see our little guy...sucking his thumb just like his mom did.

Sweet baby finds!

Here are some pictures of the items I talked about in the last post. The pictures don't reflect how tiny the baby clothes really are. I can't wait to put them on our baby!
The pants overalls have never been worn and still have the tag on them! The other pair are Oshkosh. The onesies are a little more boy than girl but I think they are cute either way. I got all these items at Once Upon a Child.

I got the grey hoodie for half price so it was only $1.75. The red polo outfit was all Tim. You know he wants a polo baby just like him. I also got all these items at Once Upon a Child.

Both the jeans and the onesie came from Once Upon a Child. They had never been worn and still had the tags on them. The jeans are Gymboree and were also half off so they were $1.75! I got the batman onesie from the Baby Gap but it was on clearance and then 50% off that! Again, might be a little more boy but I love batman!

This is the cradle that we got from Tim's sister. Both his sisters used it with their children and Tim's mom used it for all three of her children. I feel very blessed to have it passed on to us! We will take very good care of it. Inside are the blankets Tim's mom gave us. They are in much better shape than any blanket I have from my childhood. I am a blankie girl.

Here is the link for Once Upon a Child. I cannot say enough about how happy I am to have found this store. I hope the KC stores are as good at the Memphis store. I can't wait to find out!

Half way there!!

Today, December 27th, I am 20 weeks pregnant. That means I am officially half way there. According to the email updates I get, the baby is about the size of a small cantaloupe. This means that in just two days, we will find out that sex of our little one...hopefully. Tim and I are not known for our luck so I would not be shocked if our baby decided to be modest on Thursday. I am really hoping that does not happen but I am excited just to see the baby again.

Tim and I spent Christmas with his family in Memphis this year. This is the first time I have been away from my family for Christmas. My hormones kicked in a little Christmas Eve when I saw pictures of the celebrating my dad, stepmom and sister were doing without me but that passed fairly quickly. I had a really good time with Tim's family though. It's fun to have young kids around to play with. His nieces got a Kinect for Christmas and this pregnant girl kicked Tim's butt in Just Dance! When we left, the girls gave us a couple stuffed animals for the baby which was so sweet. Tim's mom also gave us a few things for the baby including some pacifiers, our bedding set for the nursery and items from when Tim was little like his Casey Jones teddy bear. We were also able to fit in the cradle that Tim's mother used for Tim and his sisters and the his sisters used for their kids. With the presents, dog and all the baby stuff, we had to do some Tetris-style loading when it was time to leave but we managed to get it all in.

We took a little time to peruse some maternity and baby stores yesterday around Memphis. First of all, I knew Pea in a Pod was expensive but wow! I didn't know it was hundreds of dollars for a shirt expensive. Needless to say, we did not spend much time in that store. What we did find was a great consignment store called Once Upon a Child. We got onsies, overalls, jeans and even a little hoodie (10 times total) all for under $40. It is all name brand and some of the items still have the tags on them. The best part is they have one in Overland Park so I will be making a trip there to find some more amazing deals!

Be sure to check back this week for the results of the poll. Right now the girls are winnig by a narrow margin. I can't wait to share the news!!

That will be $93 and a bottle of urine...

Friday was my 18 week check up. I am getting used to the doctor routine. I go in every 4 weeks, with my $93 and tiny bottle of urine. This is the first appointment I have gone to without Tim so I was a bit bummed. Amazingly, I was in and out of there in less that 30 minutes! This has to be a record for any doctor's office but especially this one. Four weeks ago, Tim and I sat in the waiting room for over an hour so I was shocked to get called back after waiting just 5 minutes. These appointments are very routine. "How are things going?" Lay back so we can hear the heartbeat and that is about it. After a stop at the scheduling counter, I grab my urine sample bottle for the next appointment and I am on my way.

Normally, I would be back 4 weeks later for the same routine but in less than two weeks, we will be back for the BIG appointment...the 20 week sonogram! If all goes well (and the baby cooperates) we will find out what we are having on the 29th. We are absolutely dying to know! Tim says we are having a boy but that mostly comes out of his fear of the number of unicorn items I will buy if we have a girl. Truthfully, we will be happy either way. We are just hoping for a healthy baby. We have not decided on any names but we have a few we like. Hopefully, we will walk out of the sonogram knowing what we are having so we can focus on one gender. The task of naming your child is hard enough...maybe focusing on just boy or girls names will help us out. I added a poll to the sidebar so let us know what you think we are having and I will do the big reveal (hopefully) after our appointment on the 29th!

Overall, I am starting to feel better. The first 4 months were pretty rough but it is starting to settle down...the calm before the next storm. I have gained about 7 or 8 pounds or so but my belly has definitely rounded out. It feels so much bigger than it looks. It is hard to get my head around the idea that I will end up so much bigger than I am now but I am in it for the long haul.
